Official ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI)
The Oral Proficiency Interview is a carefully structured, 20-30 minute
telephonic interview between an ACTFL Certified Tester and a candidate. The interview is interactive and adaptive to the experiences and linguistic competence of the candidate. The digitally recorded sample is double rated and an Official ACTFL OPI Certificate, stating the candidate's proficiency level, is issued to the candidate.
ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview by Computer (OPIc)
The ACTFL OPIc is a test of oral proficiency
that can be delivered electronically and on demand. This
semi-direct test is individualized to the test taker and
designed to elicit a 20-30 minute sample of ratable speech
delivered via the internet. The candidate's digitally
recorded speech is double rated by an ACTFL Certified
Rater. An Official ACTFL OPIc Certificate, indicating one
of seven possible proficiency levels, is issued.
ACTFL Advanced Level Check
The Advanced Level Check is a truncated
version of an OPI that determines whether or not the
candidate meets the NCATE standard of Advanced Low.
The interview is conducted telephonically by an
ACTFL Certified Tester, double rated, and an ACTFL Advanced
Level Check Certificate is issued to those candidates who
meet the Advanced Low level of speaking proficiency.
